Reed Protector

Delrin cylinder with thumbscrew, used for storing your reed IN the chanter between playing sessions. Preserves the reed in a dry environment, protects it from damage, and eliminates the need for reseating the reed prior to each session. The single most important tool for extending chanter reed life and consistency.

The reed protectors are manufactured by various firms, and availability may vary. The key option is whether you want a closed top or hole in the top. Some feel that the vent hole in the top adds additional moisture control, though in some climates this can cause too much drying. A vent hole can be easily covered with electrical tape for drier climates.
